Tired of fumbling for your Touch ‘n Go card at every toll plaza? A lot of first-time buyers in Penang ask us the same question: which Perodua has a built-in toll reader? You might have seen people search for a “Perodua smart tag” too. On Perodua’s official spec sheets, the feature is called the Built-in Toll Reader, and it is only fitted to certain models and variants.
We checked every current model page on Perodua’s official website (as of 1 November 2026) so you know exactly which variants come with it, what they cost, and how to decide if it’s worth paying more.
Quick answer: Perodua models with a built-in toll reader
According to Perodua’s official specification tables, the built-in toll reader is listed as standard on these four variants:
| Model and variant | Built-in toll reader | OTR price (Peninsular, without insurance) |
|---|---|---|
| Perodua Myvi 1.5L H (D-CVT) | With | RM54,900 |
| Perodua Myvi 1.5L AV (D-CVT) | With | RM59,900 |
| Perodua Aruz 1.5 X (Automatic) | With | RM68,900 |
| Perodua Aruz 1.5 AV (Automatic) | With | RM73,900 |
Prices are Perodua’s published on-the-road (OTR) prices for Peninsular Malaysia, with Sales Tax and without insurance. Promotions and packages change, so always ask us for the latest quote.
Perodua Myvi: toll reader on the 1.5 H and AV only
The Perodua Myvi is Malaysia’s favourite hatchback, and it is the most affordable Perodua with a built-in toll reader. But it’s not on every Myvi. Perodua’s spec table shows:
- Myvi 1.5L AV (RM59,900): With built-in toll reader
- Myvi 1.5L H (RM54,900): With built-in toll reader
- Myvi 1.5L X (RM50,900): Without
- Myvi 1.3L G (RM48,500): Without
- Myvi 1.3L G (Without PSDA) (RM46,500): Without
So if the toll reader is a must-have for you, the Myvi 1.5 H is the cheapest way to get it in the whole Perodua line-up. It is a good fit for young working adults who drive on tolled highways almost every day, like commuters between the island and Seberang Perai or those heading down the North-South Expressway (PLUS) for balik kampung.
Perodua Aruz: toll reader on both variants
For bigger families, the Perodua Aruz 7-seater SUV lists the built-in toll reader as standard on both current variants, the 1.5 X (RM68,900) and the 1.5 AV (RM73,900). If you need seven seats and you use highways often, every Aruz you buy from us comes with it.
What about Axia, Bezza, Ativa, Alza and Traz?
On Perodua’s official spec tables for the Axia, Bezza, Ativa, Alza and Traz, a built-in toll reader is not listed as a feature. If you are choosing one of these models, plan to pay tolls the usual way, with your Touch ‘n Go card or a separate toll tag you buy yourself.
That shouldn’t be a deal-breaker on its own. The Axia and Bezza are still some of the best kereta murah choices for a kereta pertama, and the money you save on the car price is far more than the cost of a separate toll tag. Is a built-in toll reader worth paying more for?
Here’s a simple way to think about it as a first-time buyer:
- Yes, if you drive on tolled highways most days. A built-in reader is neat, always in the car, and one less gadget to stick on your windscreen.
- Maybe, if you were already looking at the Myvi 1.5 H or AV for other features. On those variants you get it as part of the package, not as an extra cost.
- Probably not, if you mostly drive in town around Bayan Lepas, Bukit Jambul or Georgetown and rarely use tolls. In that case, a lower-priced variant plus a Touch ‘n Go card can be the better value.
Remember that the gap between the Myvi 1.5 X (RM50,900) and the 1.5 H (RM54,900) is RM4,000 at OTR price, and the H also brings other equipment. Compare the full variant list on our Myvi page before deciding, and think about the monthly instalment (ansuran bulanan) difference, not just the sticker price.
